Trains to Manchester Oxford Road
Manchester Oxford Road is situated a few miles west of Manchester Piccadilly, the city's main terminus. As the name suggests, it sits at the top of Oxford Street, which is one of Manchester's most important arterial roads, running south from the city centre through the campuses of Manchester University and Manchester Metropolitan.
At Whitworth Park, it segues into Wilmslow Road, continuing through the South Asian community of Rusholme, into the popular student haunt of Fallowfield, and out to the suburbs. The station itself first opened back in 1849 and has a Grade II listed facade added in 1960.
Far from being a satellite station, it's close to some of Manchester's best cultural venues, with the Palace Theatre, Dancehouse Theatre and Bridgewater Hall just a minutes' walk away. The Manchester Conference Centre and the Manchester Art Gallery are also nearby. Head north up Oxford Road, and you'll reach the city centre's shops and restaurants in around ten minutes.

The station entrance is just off Oxford Road, via Wakefield Street or Station Approach. There are staffed and automated ticketing facilities as well as public toilets on the concourse. The concourse leads onto platform 4 (towards Manchester Airport and Norwich) and platform 5 (towards Liverpool), with the remaining platforms accessible via a footbridge, with lifts for step-free access. Manchester Piccadilly trains depart from platform 3. Platform 2 is used for north and westbound services, including some trains to Liverpool.
