From Kettering to London by train in less than an hour

Arriving at Kettering Station

Excited for a day out in London, I had my eticket ready in my Trainline app, so I only had to scan the barcode at the barriers when I arrived and was into the station in no time. Kettering isn’t a big station but does have 4 platforms so I made sure I arrived in enough time to climb the stairs over to platform 3 where my train was departing from.

During the journey

Once my train arrived, I stepped on the carriage specified on my ticket and found my seat easily as there were electronic signs above each row. The seats on EMR are comfortable and feel quite wide, and the free WiFi worked well too, although I wasn’t really on my phone as I had a window seat, so spent a lot time watching the countryside fly past my window. A trolley service came along after about 20 minutes as well, offering hot and cold drinks, crisps and chocolate, so I got myself a coffee.

Kettering was the last stop before London, which meant the journey only took 48 minutes to reach St Pancras station.

Arriving at London St Pancras station

Our train pulled into London St Pancras station on time. The EMR platforms are at the far end of the station on the upper level, so I got a lovely view of the huge iron and glass roof that covers the building, and the glowing pink neon I Want My Time With You installation by Tracey Emin as I stepped off the train.

I took the escalator down to the lower level with a very tempting row of shops to browse and made my way along to the other end of the station to hop on the Undergound.
